Max
Max is a co-founder of Foundry Education, with a love for education and a wealth of experience in the tutoring sector. Max was educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford, before reading Theology as an undergraduate at Durham University and completing a postgraduate degree in Marketing. He tutors Theology, Marketing and Spanish – which he speaks fluently and offers up to A-level – alongside exam preparation, essay and revision skills for all exam levels and university entrance. These can be tailored to any level up to A-level and beyond. He also teaches Economics and entrepreneurship, helping students connect theory to real-world decision-making and business thinking. Max is also TEFL-qualified and teaches English as a foreign language, supporting international students who are building fluency alongside their studies. He also has a wealth of SEN experience supporting children with ASD, AP and EHCPs, and adapts his teaching approach to each learner's needs. Outside teaching he loves playing and watching sport, is a qualified tennis coach and ski instructor, and enjoys music and collecting vinyl records. Max also coaches students in revision skills and exam techniques, helping them plan their time and retain content effectively. A keen triathlete, Max also spends his time swimming, cycling and running.

Shannon
Shannon studied Geography as an undergraduate at Swansea University before completing her PGCE at Oxford University — Keble College. While teaching full-time at schools across Oxfordshire, she continued her own studies and is now undertaking a part-time Master's at Oxford, having transferred to Linacre College. She is QTS-qualified and offers Maths, Science, History and English from 11+ through to GCSE, and Geography all the way through to A-Level. She provides university entrance guidance with particular expertise supporting students approaching Oxbridge applications. Shannon brings a wealth of SEN experience too, having worked with hundreds of SEN children — including those with AP, EHCPs and ASD of varying severities. Outside teaching, she loves the gym, running, travelling to exotic places, and good coffee.

Oscar
Oscar is the newest addition to the Foundry family. An alumnus of Magdalen College School, where he was an academic scholar, Oscar combined stellar exam performances with numerous Olympiad, Cambridge and Bebras awards across the Sciences and Maths. He also studied LAMDA to grade 8 in two disciplines, gaining distinction gold medals in both. Now a Natural Sciences undergraduate at Durham University, Oscar has a particular talent for making complicated topics feel accessible. With school exams still in his relatively recent history, he is a master of the mark scheme — specialising in tailoring exam answers to exactly what is required to maximise marks and attainment. In his (limited!) spare time Oscar enjoys racquet sports and scuba diving, and always looks forward to winter when his big passion for skiing takes off again in the Alps.

Tristan
Tristan recently completed an MA in Modern History at the LSE with Distinction, having graduated from King's College London with First Class Honours in History. He specialises in 20th-century history: his dissertation research focused on Margaret Thatcher's foreign policy, and he has also written on law and violence in colonial India and Hong Kong, the failed peace summits of the 1950s, and Soviet-American diplomacy. That breadth means he can show students the underlying factors behind a topic, taking them beyond the syllabus and into the top bands of the mark scheme.

Fully bookedAaron
Aaron grew up in Brighton, where he achieved straight A*s across his STEM A-levels. He went on to read Chemistry at Durham University, completing an integrated master's course over four years and graduating with a 2:1. He is now an Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and tutors alongside his professional work. Aaron tutors Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology up to A-level, and Chemistry through to university entrance and beyond — happy to support students with degree-level work, admissions preparation and deeper subject mastery. Outside of academia he loves cricket, golf, running and travelling — and, rather remarkably, runs a 2:30 marathon.

Fully bookedTom
I'm currently studying my master's degree in international history at LSE, after graduating from Durham University with first class honours in history. People often ask what I specialise in - my personal interests lie in global colonial encounters in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries - but the reality is far wider-ranging. From political culture in Japan since the 17th century, to my dissertation on segregation and blues music in 1920s America - I have knowledge and experience on a plethora of topics. Most importantly, I believe knowledge of a range and breadth of historical periods and places is an essential element of cultural understanding, and going beyond the syllabus to conceptualise a given topic is key to success. Besides history, I enjoy working across the humanities, especially English literature and Geography, and am always interested in how one can combine knowledge across any particular topic or time period.

“Max helped with GCSE Spanish — so pleased with my son’s progress. Really helped him iron out some of the issues he was having with tricky grammar and also the oral where he really lacked in confidence.”
